District 12 Military Style Messenger Bag

Oh, I love this one. I want one for myself. But, sssshhhhhh, this is a birthday gift for my daughter. Poor kid has been at her dad's house and I haven't been able to see her for 2 weeks now. On the plus side, though, this did give me some extra time to be able to do this bag.
I found the bag in a military surplus store. Ever shopped in one of those places? So cool!!!!! I even found a vintage French flag. ( If anyone wants to buy it, I will go and pick it up and sell it to ya )
I had to make my own stencils for this, the ones I have were too big. I probably should have just gone and spent the money at the Home Depot. Oh, well, next time . . . . . . I colored the letters in with black sharpie. I had planned to paint the letters but it turns out that I like it with just the sharpie. The letters aren't shiny and the lines are much straighter than they otherwise might have been.

Here is what I began with. I love this bag just as it is. But my girl is a big fan of Hunger Games and wants a bag like this for her laptop and for school.

Here it is with the lettering.

I don't like the inside of this one as much as some of the other bags they had in the store. But, really, it was the outside that counts here. Its good though, one large middle area, two front pockets and two side pockets. It will work. She probably needs some cute pencil bags to go in the front pocket.

Are your kids still talking about The Hunger Games? I might have to do this again before the second movie comes out.
