Last Off Topic Tuesday

I know I've only been doing these "Off Topic Tuesdays" sporadically at best. I had been trying to keep my blog consistently about embroidery. But there is so much more going on here than just colorful stitchery! So I created Off Topic Tuesday to try to inject a little more Christine into this space. But let's face it, its boring. Even I am painfully bored with my blog and that's sad. So I think I will let this blog evolve into the craft and lifestyle blog that it wants to be. I will continue to do a lot of embroidery and also a lot of crochet. So, even though I have been writing this little blog since February 24, 2012, let me introduce myself.

  • My name is Christine
  • I am twice divorced and living with my boyfriend of nearly 5 years, Chris. That's right, Chris and Christine. I had always wanted matchy-matchy names, lol! After my second divorce I hit bottom, financially, and went through quite a bit of upheaval. Less than four years later I bought my own home!! So if I ever act like I am a little too proud of my home, this is why :-)

  • I have two teenagers, an 18 year old son and a 14 year old daughter. My son's 18 year old girlfriend spends a lot of time here too. So . . . . I currently have three kids! The girls often model for me and I am so happy that they are willing to do that!

I used to work at an animal shelter, then later at veterinary hospitals. You wouldn't believe how much that experience helps with my furry, feathered and shelled brood! There are:
  • One parrot
  • 3 dogs
  • 4 aquatic turtles (red eared sliders)
  • and 5 cats, one of whom is deaf and has a heart condition.

The newest cat, Tesla, you may have already seen. I had seen her during one of my photo sessions and we spent the following week and a half trying to catch her. She was very, very shy. No more! We are finally past the "getting to know you" stage with the dogs and the big dog now knows he doesn't need to protect the  house from this strange kitty.

I have a lot of food allergies and am always on a quest to better my diet, although I have a serious addiction to french fries. I am a sometimes, but more often not, vegan and am gluten free and (pasteurized) dairy free. I am always on the lookout for interesting recipes.

My home is full of thrifted, hand-me-down and repainted furniture. So is my garage, for that matter. And, I have a thing for old doors. I even have a set of curved armoire doors, rescued after a house fire. You wouldn't believe the patina on them!

This is from my old blog, Crafty Geordi. I am such a "blogger", I have had something like 5 blogs. Crafty Geordi was off to a fairly good start but then I changed the name, switched to Wordpress and then everything kind of got out of control with it. I felt it would be best to just start over . . . . .

I will also be talking about concerts I attend and the artists I get to meet (country music is awesome, many of the artists make themselves so available!)

So, that's me in a nutshell! I hope you all enjoy the new Broderie!
